Training Courses, CPD, Workshops & Seminars
Our vision is to help students gain the necessary skills to deliver professional, safe and practical Sound Healing and Sound Therapy sessions for the modern world.
We promote the use of Therapeutic Sound as a Complementary aid to Health & Well-Being. The potential applications are widespread and there is a growing need for professionally qualified Sound Therapy Practitioners.
Sound Healing and Sound Therapy are fascinating subjects to study. Sound and sound vibrations are found everywhere in our daily lives, in the realms of science, nature and universal laws. It’s no wonder that when Therapeutic Sound is applied properly it can have deep and profound effects, and be a powerful aid to personal transformation.
Most of the instruments used in Sound Sessions are relatively easy to play. Which is great news. The complexity stems from the different techniques and sequences used to deliver the desired outcomes for the participants in the session.
With Health and Safety in mind, it is important that anyone facilitating a Sound Session is fully aware of the implications of the work they are carrying out, and follows the correct codes of conduct and procedures during a session. We have a duty of care for our clients physical, emotional and mental well-being, whether we are hosting a group or a 1 to 1 Session. The effects of any Sound Session may be felt for days afterwards, so a clear aftercare regime is also required.
The packages described here cover a range of applications; from personal interest and self treatment, right up to Accredited Practitioner options.
For clarity, The Sound Therapy Company uses guidelines set down by the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) to decide on the ‘type’ of qualification obtained. Where appropriate, we use the terms Award, Certificate and Diploma to give an indication of the Total Qualification Time (TQT) expected to complete the course. We use the term Sound Healing to denote qualifications where there are no competency based assessments and the term Sound Therapy when students are expected to reach a minimum level of competency before the qualification is complete.
The Training Courses are designed in a modular fashion, so that you can study up to the highest level of qualification in predetermined stages. Great if you want to study at a slower pace, or have limited financial resources.

Sound Healing Discovery Workshops
Maybe, you are curious about Sound Healing, or you have an interest in a specific instrument or method, or you don’t want to commit to a full blown training course just yet. Then our Sound Healing Discovery Workshops are for you.
We will cover all the basic information you need to know around choosing instruments, playing techniques, how to create a Sound Session, Sound Meditation or Sound Journey to meet your desired outcomes, using Sound Healing to develop your own practice and rituals, to gain a richer understanding of your self, your health and your well-being.
These are group workshops so you will have the opportunity to learn, practice and share your experience with others in a supportive environment. If you already own instruments you are most welcome to bring those along to the workshops. We do have a small number of instruments to purchase at some of the workshops.
Introduction to the Gong
Studying any Sound Healing modality requires a long term commitment. This applies many fold when working with the Gong.
The Gong is such a powerful instrument. Wide ranging in both tone and applications. Layer upon layer of depth and subtlety make the Gong a captivating instrument to hear, to work with and to study.
This introductory workshop will give you a broad overview of working with the Gong. It’s many playing techniques, the different methods and applications, the different styles of Gong and things to consider when purchasing a Gong, choice of mallets and other implements for creating sounds from the Gong, using more than one Gong and thinking about your Gong ‘set up’, the different types of stands, and finally the spiritual and energetic approach to playing the Gong.
Himalayan & Crystal Singing Bowls
Although the qualities and energy of these two types of instrument can be very different, there are many similarities and overlaps in how we approach sessions using these instruments. I have therefore combined both instruments in to this one workshop day.
We will explore the main playing techniques, the methods and applications of using the bowls, considerations when choosing your bowls, how to select bowls that will build in to your ‘family’ of bowls, creating your own unique sound signature. We will discuss the different types of specialist bowls available. How to use different mallets and wands to increase the range of sounds you can achieve from your family of bowls.
Drums & Drumming
We will mainly focus on using the drum as a tool for healing. We will talk about using various tempos & rhythms and their affects on mind, body and soul. The drumming styles are intuitive and so you don’t need to worry about ‘getting it wrong’. We will NOT be learning formal drum rhythms. Although we will explore group drumming activities.
We will concentrate on using frames drums but will also consider djembe, darbuka and hand pan styles of drumming. These instruments will be there for you to experience on the day.
You will learn the basics methods and techniques for self treatment and also participate in group drum sessions.
Best of all, you will have lots of drum fun!
Using Your Voice
This workshop is NOT about learning to sing, being a great singer or about ‘performing’.
We will be using the voice as a tool for healing. There are physical, emotional and psychological benefits to using your voice in this way. Another great reason to learn to use your voice is that it is always with you, even when you travel. Plus it’s completely free, you don’t have to buy any other instruments, unless you want to!
We will draw on the techniques used by various cultures across the world to experiment and explore your voice.
You will start to develop your own style and techniques and you will identify your ‘soul tone’.
The voice is a powerful and underrated healing instrument. From a Sound Healing perspective, it’s the most in tune you can ever be with yourself !
The types and styles of workshops we host are very wide ranging. We can tailor specific workshops for your event, be it a wellness event, corporate day or a health, fitness or lifestyle retreat.
