Choosing instruments is one of the most important, and often confusing aspects of starting out as a Sound Practitioner.
There is a significant difference between instruments that are suitable for casual use and those that can support depth, consistency, and professional practice. The options seem endless and where to start can feel overwhelming.
Over the years, I’ve worked extensively with a wide range of instruments and suppliers. The companies listed here are those I trust based on my direct experience. Using them in my own personal work as a sound therapist and through working with students and their chosen instruments.

How to Approach Your First Purchases
When starting out, it’s easy to feel drawn to buying many different types of sound healing instruments. In practice, it is often more beneficial to begin with fewer high-quality instruments and expand your collection as you develop your sensitivity and confidence over time.
Alongside the quality of sound and the level of craftmanship, there are other important factors to consider when choosing your sound healing instruments: such as personal connection to the instrument, your budget, and the practicalities of handling, transporting, and storing your sound healing equipment.
These are often the areas that can feel less clear at the beginning of your journey working with sound. Part of my role is to help you navigate these considerations, so you can make choices that are both practical and aligned with how you want to work as a sound therapy practitioner.

Online Instrument Suppliers
Online suppliers can offer good value, but may not provide the same level of guidance as specialist providers. Online suppliers benefit from bulk buying instruments so they can generally offer a lower cost. Some lower cost instruments are not really suitable for professional sound practitioners.
There is much to be said for buying from specialist suppliers who offer professional guidance, where you can be certain that products have been ethically sourced. However, with careful research you can find entry level products that offer great value and are perfectly adequate for sound healing.
